Kirkland Childcare Menu

Our meal program has three key core elements – all meals are hand prepared on site, on-site Chef, and full-time kitchen staff.   Our food is weekly delivered by the best local vendors – Charlie’s and US Foods.  Each meal and snack is hand prepared by our Chef; for example, (fresh, organic) apples are hand cut for snacks – not pulled from pre-fab packaging.

Our Views on Food and Nutrition

Good nutrition is an important part of leading a healthy lifestyle. These habits are cultivated early and we help children develop these habits. At ACJS, we provide hot, healthy, balanced meals for all children keeping in mind different allergies children could have.  We have an in-house kitchen which is stocked continually.

Kirkland Montessori ChefOur Chef

Ms Violetta has been with us for about 8 years now. She has professional kitchen experience for over 16 years and can manage food for about 200 children at the same time. Ms Violetta takes extreme care with dietary restrictions and makes children friendly food. She has a secret ingredient called ‘love’ which she puts in her food and is the most favorite teacher for all children.

Hand-made and Freshly Prepared

Healthy eating is about getting the correct amount of nutrients – protein, fat, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals you need to maintain good health. We offer a variety of food groups to children. To prepare fresh food, we are committed to using local, organic, humane produce and meats whenever possible with a commitment to increasing these options as we foster new and exciting relationships with local purveyors. We support local farms and have a goal that the majority of our food comes from within 50 miles of our school by 2021. For us, this is a life choice, not just a fad.

Assurance to Parents

During the time the school is open, we offer hot breakfast, hot lunch, and three snacks comprising cheese sticks, fresh fruits, corn bread, and the like. Milk (organic) is available for breakfast and lunch. This ensures that for some reason if the child has not had one meal, they would have an opportunity to have the next meal. The freshness and the variety in the meals is something which makes us exclusive and provides assurance to our families.

We prepare almost everything fresh and onsite daily

Our talented chef creates meals and food that is elevated and elegant. Our children are exposed to a wide variety of tasty and healthy foods. We prepare almost everything fresh and on-site daily, including soup stocks and sauces. We are committed to using local, organic, humane produce and meats whenever possible with a commitment to increasing these options as we foster new and exciting relationships with local purveyors. We support local farms and have a goal that the majority of our food comes from within 50 miles of our school by 2015. For us, this is a life choice, not just a fad.

Parents can rest assured that each meal is carefully planned to ensure that children’s nutritional requirements are always met.

Another goal at our school is to create gardens on site where we grow some of our food. We are excited to be able to show our children where food comes from and engage them in learning about the process. Children will have hands-on experience with the planting, upkeep, and harvesting of our produce as well as tasting and preparing these foods. We teach and encourage healthy food choices and emphasize the joy of eating. Our chef is always looking for new ways to involve children and teach them about food and nutrition.
